Nestled in the small town of Eichō Beppu, south of Kagoshima, Akayane Craft Distillery is the brain child of Satasouji Shouten.
Aiming at spreading the culture of shochu to the world, they produce a wide range of shochu which fascinate both shochu lovers and beginners. A 2018 collaboration with Distillerie Metté starts a new page in Akayane’s book with the first release of a range of Japanese gins using a shochu base.
Shochu (sweet potato based) infused and distilled with: shiso, ume, cucumber, kombu, green tea, juniper berry. Refreshing notes of Shiso and ume plum with green vegetal aroma. The sharp taste of Shiso reminds of Summer (Natsu) in Japan.
